About Carpet Dyeing Classes

Rest assured you have come to the right place for your carpet dyeing education.
Americolor and The Dyers Guild have offered classes in the use of carpet dyes for over 40 years. As a family owned and operated business we have taught thousands of classes in the art of color repair and are leaders in the professional carpet industry.  We have written countless publications, given lectures across the world and have been an integral part of setting the national standards with the IICRC, including writing the first CRT exam. We are the only source for a full education in all aspects of carpet dyeing; including spot, full room, side match, over-dyeing and fine rug restorations. More importantly we have over 100 years of combined experience in performing various color repairs on residential and commercial carpets as well as fine rugs.

F.A.Q.

Do I need dyes for the class ?

Yes, you will need dyes and the carpet samples for the class. A class kit can be purchased for $25.50. If you already own dyes we can send you the carpet samples for free plus shipping.

What If I have acid dyes that will work on nylon and wool. Do I still need to buy dyes for the class?

If you already own dyes we can send you the carpet samples for free plus shipping.

Do I need the IICRC prerequisites CCT or CCMT to take the course?

The prerequisite is not required by me for the course. It is only required by the IICRC for taking the Color Repair Technician Test.

If you have no interest in taking the test and getting certified with IICRC then, you do not need the prerequisite.

With any online class you must have a computer with video and audio capabilities. We will be using Zoom. You must have access to a strong, stable internet connection. All Classes are held in Pacific Standard Time.

IICRC Class Dyeing Kit with Carpet Samples

Class dyeing kit includes 10 carpet samples ( that you will need for the live hands on portion of the IICRC CRT test) and small sample dyes for “class purposes only”. Intended for 1 student. Class dyeing kits available only to students who are registered for an Americolor dyeing course.

Class Description:

Color Repair Technician (CRT) certification will cover history of color, color theory, types of dyes, dye methods, types of fibers, carpet styles & construction, dye procedures and more. Learn how to restore color due to bleaching agents, sun fading, urine or cleaning agents that have removed color from carpets or rugs.

IICRC Requirements:

  • Certification in CCT or CCMT is a prerequisite for the test.
  • You must fill out the IICRC Candidate Agreement form and pay for your exam no later than 4 days prior to the class.

Class Requirements:

  • You will need Carpet Dyes, Chemicals and carpet samples for your dye class. Should you already own carpet dyes we will provide you with the testing carpet samples. Should you not have carpet dyes ( most students) purchase of IICRC Class Kit required. IICRC class kit comes with sample carpet dyes, small chemicals and testing carpet for IICRC test portion of class.
  • Class registration will be cancelled if no class kit is purchased or contact is made about receiving carpet samples.
